Warren graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1974 and later earned his law degree from Boston University School of Law (BU Law) in 1977.

Warren is a proud father to two sons, Matthew Warren Brown and Louis Cody-Dorsey Young (his stepson). He shares his life with his wife, Donyelle Brown. Tragically, Warren and Donyelle lost their son, Louis “Cody” Young, in 2017 when he was shot and killed outside a Baltimore gas station. In honor of their son, the couple launched a foundation.
Career
Warren began his legal career with MALS (Memphis Area Legal Services, Inc.) under A. C. Wharton, the former mayor of Memphis. After returning to Baltimore in 1980, he worked at the Legal Aid Bureau and later at the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City. Eventually, he found his place at the Federal Public Defender’s Office. In 1988, Warren established his own Criminal Defense firm, handling cases in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New York, and Delaware.
Community Contribution:
As a prominent Black attorney in Baltimore, Warren contributes to the legacy of black excellence in law. In 2021, AFRO, America’s #1 Black newspaper, recognized him as one of the best defense attorneys in the last three decades. He also provided pro bono legal assistance to those facing job loss and eviction due to COVID-19.
